U.S. Senate Dismisses Impeachment Charges Against DHS Secretary

Senate majority leader quickly moved to dismiss charges.

The Senate dismissed the House’s articles of impeachment against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on Wednesday in a party-line vote. Despite the House approving two charges against the nation’s top border official for refusing to comply with border security laws, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer quickly moved the charges to a Senate vote without a formal trial process.

Prior to the vote, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell called for a “thorough consideration” of the charges against Secretary Mayorkas, citing the Senate’s “fundamental responsibility” to consider such matters and “the glaring truth of the record-breaking crisis at our southern border.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Mayorkas to uphold the laws regarding border security and immigration.
  • For members of the House and Senate as they conduct the legislative business of the nation.
  • For Americans to seek the Lord regarding the candidates for whom they will vote in this year’s election.
